The 19-year-old has been rewarded for his performances with a call-up to the England Under-21s squad for their upcoming UEFA Euro U21 qualifiers. Wharton made his debut for the Young Lions in their 7-0 win over Luxembourg on Tuesday, playing the full 90 minutes.
