Jrue Holiday Signs Massive Contract Extension with Boston Celtics
Bucks Guard Gets Paid
$134.4 Million over Four Years
Jrue Holiday, the Milwaukee Bucks' star guard, has signed a four-year, $134.4 million contract extension with the Boston Celtics, according to ESPN.
Holiday, who was entering the final year of his current contract, had a player option for the 2024-25 season worth $37.3 million. He declined that option to sign the new deal, which will keep him in Boston through the 2027-28 season.
The contract includes a player option for the 2027-28 season, giving Holiday the flexibility to opt out and become a free agent if he chooses.
Holiday, 33, has been a key part of the Celtics' success in recent years. He was named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team in 2022 and helped the Celtics reach the NBA Finals in 2022 and 2023.
The Bucks rewarded Holiday with the lucrative extension in his first season with the team. Holiday was acquired by the Bucks in a trade with the New Orleans Pelicans in 2020.
Holiday is averaging 18.1 points, 6.7 assists, and 4.9 rebounds per game this season. He is shooting 45.3% from the field and 37.5% from three-point range.
The Celtics are hoping that Holiday can continue to be a key contributor as they try to win their first NBA championship since 2008.
