Fremantle's Indigenous Jumper: A Symbol of Pride and Culture
Michael Walters and Peter Farmer Jnr. Collaborate on Design
Inspired by Alex Pearce's Tasmanian Roots
The Fremantle Dockers have unveiled their 2023 Indigenous home guernsey, a stunning design that celebrates the rich culture and heritage of the Noongar people.
The jumper, designed in collaboration with Docker star Michael Walters and renowned artist Peter Farmer Jnr., features a vibrant array of colors and patterns that pay homage to the six seasons of the Noongar calendar. The central design represents the "Boodja," or land, symbolizing the deep connection between the Noongar people and their ancestral home.
The jumper also incorporates elements of Alex Pearce's Tasmanian heritage, honoring his journey from the Apple Isle to the Dockers. The use of blue and white reflects the colors of the Tasmanian Aboriginal flag, further strengthening the club's commitment to reconciliation and unity.
